Composer for Bb clarinet

Stafford King

I take this opportunity to share my lifestyle and the reason why I took up playing the clarinet. I had a background of classical piano, but upon reaching retirement and leading an itinerant lifestyle in holiday parks in Queensland, Australia and Mowhanau Beach, Wanganui, New Zealand, I needed an instrument that could easily be transported and played in private locations where I would not disturb others.

I bought a Bb clarinet and as I became more competent, simpler tunes became unfulfilling nor did they use the full range of notes available. With the limited amount of music available for the more advanced player, I then started adapting classical composers, then composing my own themes specifically for the clarinet.

As there is a large selection of music available, I suggest that you whet your appetite on freebee Theme 101 and then Themes: 12, 25, 30, 35, 42, 49, 57, 66, 83, 123, 125, 131, 135, 139, 143, 169. I hope they will provide you with the satisfaction they have given me over the past few years. With luck you can play your clarinet in similar locations to those I enjoy!
